First Concerts in Holland

April 30, 2011

I flew to Amsterdam on my 29th birthday and was welcomed at the airport by my friend Bart. Bart was responsible for introducing my music to his church in Holland, who were now having me come sing at their Easter services. The church was in Den Haag, hometown of the queen of Holland.

As I arrived at the church and was introduced to people, I was amazed to find they all already knew who I was and were familiar with my music. I was really taken with how genuine and down-to-earth everyone was.

I took a day trip to Amsterdam with Bart and tried the traditional raw herring and bought some tulip bulbs. The fishy taste of herring lingered with me all day and the tulip bulbs later got confiscated coming through customs in Minneapolis. I love the history of Europe and seeing art and architecture that are older than the United States itself. I can see why so many artists throughout history have been inspired there.

Moving/Holland/Live Recording

March 26, 2011

These last few months have been a whirlwind for me! I’ve been getting everything ready for the live recording I did on March 20th with Morris Chapman and Destiny McGuire in Memphis. Getting all the orchestrations written and recorded, rehearsing the choir, picking out choir robes, deciding what to wear....But, it turned out great! I can’t wait for you to see and hear the magic moments that happened during the concert.

I also made an appearance on TBN in Memphis last month. My brother, Josh, came to visit me from Idaho. It was so good to get to spend time with him.

And the big news: I’m moving to San Diego!!!

For the last year or so I’ve been living in Nashville; commuting to Memphis every weekend, leading worship in a church there. It’s a 3 hours trip one way. But that chapter of my life has gracefully closed and I’m off to California, land of sunshine, hippies and earthquakes.

I’m not sure exactly what to expect in California. All I know is that God is leading me there. And I’ve learned to trust the directing of his Spirit. So, a new adventure is beginning.

Christmas with TBN

December 15, 2010

I received a random Facebook message from Kirk Cameron’s manager several months back. His hair dresser had given him my CD, and he was interested in getting me as a musical guest on a show that Kirk was hosting. What? Kirk Cameron? Even though I didn’t grow up with a TV, I had still heard his name and seen some of the movies he was in.

I told Kirk’s manager that I’d be interested, and we set a date for me to fly to California and do a taping for the “Praise the Lord” show. So, I had several months to think and plan for the taping. I asked several of my friends in the music industry what to expect and how I should present myself, and I got some great advice and direction from them.

It seems that every time I try to start promoting myself, I continually run into walls. But when I just relax and concentrate on creating great music and leave the promoting up to God, amazing doors begin to fly open. Doors that I could never take the credit for opening myself.

Caleb Goes Sailing Around The World

April 15, 2010

For the last two months, Caleb has been living and working on the Carnival Imagination, playing piano in the orchestra pit for the production shows. This experience has helped expand Caleb’s palette of musical styles and added to his growing list of life adventures. This opportunity has given him the chance to encounter people and cultures from around the globe, and to cultivate several sure-to-be lifelong friendships.

From Ernest Hemingway’s house and European pastries in Key West to the Tulum Ruins of Mexico to the laptop-thieving beaches of Nassau, Caleb has been immersed in new experiences and new discoveries daily and is grateful for the chance to partake in such singular opportunities.
